DIY deck repair before spring - worth it?
My deck is 12 years old and showing its age. Some boards are soft, railings need stain, couple planks have splinters. Was quoted 3k from a contractor which is insane. Thinking of tackling it myself over the next month or two. I can replace boards, definitely can stain. Never done railing repair though. How hard is it really? Any tips from you guys who've done this? I got time on weekends and don't mind getting my hands dirty.
DIY deck work is definitely doable if you're handy. Just budget way more time than you think - I learned that the hard way with a lot of projects around here.
