DIY kitchen island almost destroyed my marriage lol
Watched some youtube videos and decided building a kitchen island would be a fun weekend project. It was NOT a fun weekend. First thing didn't fit, second thing was crooked, my wife kept suggesting we hire someone, I got stubborn, we fought about budget and my ability. Long story short took 3 weekends instead of one, cost way more than planned, but it's done and actually looks pretty solid. We joke about it now but in the moment she was not happy with me. Lesson learned on DIY projects communicate with your partner upfront about timeline and budget or you'll be sleeping on the couch.
This made me laugh because I've definitely been there. The key is admitting early that you might need professional help instead of pushing through. Did you end up getting someone to fix it?
I feel like this is how a lot of DIY projects go lol. The enthusiasm is there but the execution gets messy. At least you tried right?
