Documenting the summer with a photo challenge—who's doing this?

We're trying something new: every weekend the kids pick a photo theme (like 'something wet' or 'your best friend' or 'funny faces') and we all take pictures. Then we vote on the best one. My 9yo is actually getting interested in composition instead of just taking 400 blurry photos of the dog. Costs nothing, keeps them busy, and we're building a fun memory book. Anyone else doing something like this or am I reinventing the wheel here?

This is such a cool idea. We're doing something similar but with a family journal instead. Same concept, just writing down what happened. You'll be amazed how much you forget otherwise.

This is genius for getting kids to actually look at what's around them instead of just existing. My 6-year-old is way more observant now when we're out doing stuff because she's thinking about themes.

Does anyone have themes that consistently bomb? We tried 'something that makes you laugh' and got like one decent photo of the dog before they lost interest.

Love this. Our kids came up with 'something fuzzy' last week and we ended up with the best photos of them petting every neighbor's dog on the block. Way more interesting than anything I would've picked.

We've been doing this for 3 weeks and I'm already seeing a difference in how the kids interact with their environment. They're looking for things instead of just passively existing.

How do you organize the photos after? Like are you printing them, putting them in a book, or just keeping them digital? Asking because we have like 3000 photos with no system.
