Been promising the kids this for 2 years. Got a Saturday free and picked up some 2x8s from Home Depot. My dad sent me his old plans and I watched like 47 YouTube videos last night. Wish me luck guys, I'm either going to crush this or end up in the ER. Either way, the kids are going to lose their minds.
Good luck! I'd say start with a solid plan and don't wing it, but honestly winging it is half the fun of these projects. Just make sure everything is actually safe and secure.
Two years is a long time to carry that promise around. Go get it done! I built a tire swing for like twenty bucks and it's been the best outdoor project ever. The kids will remember this forever.

This is awesome. Safety tip though - make sure you're checking those joints and weight limits as you go. Three kids have bounced on everything I've ever built so I learned to over-engineer everything.
Good luck man. I did something similar last summer and it took way longer than I planned. Have the kids help with what they can, makes it even more special for them.

Don't forget safety equipment and definitely involve the kids in building if they're old enough. Makes it way more meaningful for them and honestly it's a great bonding thing.
