Finally finished the backyard deck - 6 months and my back will never be the same

Done! After half a year of early mornings and my wife yelling at me to stop before I hurt myself, the deck is actually finished. It's not perfect, the railing isn't exactly level and I may have used screws that are too long in some spots, but man does it look good. Kids actually want to hang out back there now instead than being glued to screens. Already planning the next project which my wife is not thrilled about lol. If anyone wants detailed pics I can share, learned a lot of lessons the hard way.

Nothing wrong with imperfect if it's built with your own hands. That's the kind of thing your kid will notice and appreciate way more than something store-bought.

Ha! The wife yelling to stop before you hurt yourself - I know that feeling all too well. My wife literally confiscates my power tools on weekends now. But seriously, those kinds of projects are great for showing the kids what persistence looks like.

Six months?? I'm impressed. I started a deck project two years ago and it's still sitting there half-finished. Your back pain is worth it though, that's a solid accomplishment. Did you at least get to use it yet with the family?

Dude, congrats on finishing. I've been thinking about doing something similar but with two kids under five I can barely finish a cup of coffee before it gets cold. How did you manage to carve out that much time?

Congrats on finishing! I've been working on a similar project and my wife has said the exact same thing about hurting myself. The satisfaction of having it done is totally worth the aching back though.
