Finally finished the deck. Here's what I learned the hard way

Took me 4 weekends but the deck is done. I'm talking about 200 square feet, built it myself with help from my neighbor who actually knows what he's doing. Most important things I learned: buy better tools than you think you need, measure more than once (I measured like 20 times), and don't try to do it all yourself if you can help it. The finished product looks solid and I'm pretty proud. Cost me about 2k in materials but it's way cheaper than hiring someone. If anyone's thinking about this just do it, you got this.

Four weekends for that size is solid work. I'd love to hear what went wrong so I don't repeat it. Building stuff like this is so satisfying when it's finally done.
Congrats! That had to feel amazing when you laid the last board. Did you treat the wood after finishing or let it weather naturally?
