Finally got the kids to help me build a raised garden bed and it actually worked
Been wanting to do this all spring but kept putting it off. Last Saturday I grabbed my 8yo daughter and 5yo son, bought some cedar boards from Home Depot, and we actually FINISHED it. My daughter helped measure and my son was in charge of the soil (which he dumped half of, but whatever). We planted tomatoes and lettuce yesterday and honestly this might be the most excited I've seen them about eating vegetables. The bed is slightly crooked but idgaf, we made it together and that's what matters.
This is awesome! Getting my 8yo involved in actual projects is on my list for summer. How long did the whole thing take? And more importantly, is she already asking when you're building the next one?
Did you have to redo any of her work or was it solid for an 8yo? I'm wondering if involving my kids means the project takes three times as long but I'm starting to think that's kind of the point.
