It's been two years. Two years. The wood is rotting in spots and my wife gave me an ultimatum so I'm renting a power saw and tearing this thing down starting Saturday. Thinking about building it back bigger and better. Probably going to take all summer but ready to actually finish something for once.
Two years though, I feel you. I've had my garage roof situation sitting in my mind for about that long. The wife dropping the ultimatum is what finally gets things moving. Just bite the bullet and get it done.
Deck projects are no joke when the wood starts going. Before you start tearing it up, make sure you've got all your materials lined up. Nothing worse than getting halfway through and realizing you're short on supplies.
Two years is impressive procrastination lol but at least the wife's ultimatum is the final motivator you needed. Better to do it now before it gets worse and costs way more.
The fact that you're finally doing it is what matters. Sure it took two years, but at least you're tackling it now before it becomes a total teardown job.

Rotting wood doesn't fix itself unfortunately. Once you start it goes pretty fast though. YouTube has solid deck tutorials if you haven't built one before. Grab a buddy to help with the heavy lifting.
