Finished the deck myself and didn't kill anyone
Spent the last 4 weekends building a 16x12 deck in the backyard. It wasn't perfect but it's solid and my kids were actually interested in helping with parts of it. Taught my 10 year old how to use a drill and he was so proud. Cost way less than hiring someone and we got to spend time together. If you're thinking about doing one, start small but definitely go for it.
16x12 is no joke. That's a real accomplishment. Did you build it from scratch with plans or follow something online? I've been thinking about tackling a smaller deck myself.
