First camping trip with the boys went better than expected

Took them out to Devil's Lake for three days last weekend. Oldest is 8, youngest is 5. Packed way too much food and forgot the tent stakes but we made it work. They caught some bluegill, complained about the sleeping bags for like 20 minutes then crashed hard. Waking up to them excited to go hiking the next morning made it all worth it. Already planning the next trip.

Nice work getting out there with them. I'm still in the phase where my daughter barely sleeps at night so camping feels impossible right now, but this gives me hope.

That's awesome man, camping with little ones is no joke. Tent stakes are overrated anyway haha. Sounds like your boys will remember that trip way more than any forgotten gear.

Three days at Devil's Lake sounds perfect. Those are the trips they'll actually remember, not the stuff you forgot. Props for making it happen with an 8 and 5 year old.
