First camping trip with the family and what a disaster

Got out there Friday night, set up the tent around 9pm in the dark. Woke up Saturday to realize I'd set it up backwards and we were sitting in the wettest spot in the campground. Everything was damp. Kids were soaked, sleeping bags were soaked, it was rough. But you know what? They had the time of their lives. We made it work, dried stuff out by the fire, made s'mores, and they asked me when we're going back. Sometimes being bad at something doesn't matter if your kids are happy.

Oh man, the backwards tent setup is a classic first timer move. At least you got out there and gave it a shot though, that's what matters. Next time will be smoother.

Dude that's rough but honestly this is how you learn. My first camping trip was a disaster too and now we go all the time. Your family will laugh about the wet sleeping bags for years.

Setting up in the dark is always a recipe for disaster. I did the same thing once and woke up halfway down a hill. How bad was it?

Don't even sweat it man. First camping trip with kids is always going to have something go wrong. That's part of the process.
