First Camping Trip with the Kids This Spring

Planning a 3 day camping trip in about 6 weeks. Got my 5 year old a little camping chair and he's already obsessed with it. Want to teach them to love the outdoors the way I do. Thinking of going to a state park about 2 hours from here so it's not too intense for the first trip. Anyone have tips for camping with young kids? I've got the tent and sleeping bags already. Should I do a practice run in the backyard first or just send it?

Oh man first camping trip is a special one. Just wait until he's in that chair by the fire and wants to stay up past bedtime because he's having too much fun. Those moments are gold.

That camping chair is money well spent if it gets him excited about the outdoors. Spring trips are the best, hopefully the weather cooperates for you guys.

Six weeks is perfect timing to build up the hype. My 5 year old was the same way with gear, kids get pumped when they feel like they're part of the plan.

6 weeks is perfect timing for spring. Got enough time to get gear sorted without rushing. Three days is the sweet spot too - long enough to really disconnect but not so long the kids get cranky.

That camping chair thing is genius. My son is 6 and he'd lose his mind if I got him his own little setup like that. Are you doing tent camping or more of an RV situation?

I'm still figuring out how to camp with a baby honestly. Does he sleep okay in a tent or does the change mess with his routine?
