Took the family camping for the first time. Everyone said we'd be back by morning but honestly it was great. Built a fire, roasted marshmallows, told ghost stories. Only downsides were the mosquitoes were brutal and my youngest peed on my sleeping bag at 3am but he was asleep so I can't even be mad.
First camping trip success is a huge win. We took ours out last summer and had the same experience everyone said it would be a disaster but it was actually awesome. What did the kids like most about it?
Getting everyone out there and having it actually go smooth is rare. Usually there's at least one meltdown or someone forgets something crucial. Sounds like you nailed it though.
Best feeling is when you prove all the doubters wrong about camping with kids. That's how you build kids who actually want to get outside. Did they already ask to go again?

This makes me want to plan a trip. How long were you out? And more importantly, did everyone actually sleep or was it one of those trips where you're exhausted but nobody wants to admit the bugs were terrible?
