Planning our first real camping trip with our 2 year old and I'm nervous as hell. We've done backyard camping but actual campground is different. What should I pack? Any tips for keeping a toddler entertained without screens? Also how early do kids usually sleep when camping or does it not matter?
We just did our first real camping trip with our 2yo and here's what mattered: a good tent that gets dark, familiar sleep stuff, snacks, and frankly the mindset that if it goes sideways after 6pm you just hunker down in the tent. Set yourself up for success, not Pinterest camping.
Bring way more activities than you think you'll need. Toddlers get bored and that's when things get chaotic. We do nature walks, rock stacking, all the simple stuff. Keep them engaged and tired and the evening is easier.
First camping trip with a 2yo is bold and I respect it. Honestly the key is lower expectations and a good routine. Keep bedtime close to normal or it all falls apart. Also bring way more diapers than you think you need.

Do a trial run in the backyard first if you haven't already. Let your 2yo get used to the tent setup without the stress of being away from home. Makes the real trip way less of a shock.
