First time camping with toddler - advice needed

Taking my 2 and 4 year old camping for the first time this weekend and I'm honestly a little nervous. We're just going to a campground about 30 minutes away so it's not like we're going full wilderness. Planning to bring a tent, sleeping bags, and some easy food. The kids have been talking about sleeping in the tent for weeks. Anyone have tips for keeping them entertained and getting them to actually sleep in a tent? Also what's the deal with bears - should I be worried about our food or is that overkill for a developed campground?

First time camping was chaotic for us too. Pro tip: set up your tent setup and bathroom routine before the sun goes down. Once it's dark with little kids it gets real hard real fast. You got this though, the memories will be worth it.

You got this! 30 minutes is perfect because if things go sideways you're not far from home. My advice: bring way more snacks than you think you need and let them stay up a little later than usual - the fresh air will knock them out eventually.

Toddlers and camping are a match made in heaven honestly. They'll be so distracted by dirt and sticks and bugs that bedtime will be a breeze. Just make sure you pack those band-aids because someone's getting a blister or scrape, guaranteed.

We take our boys camping all the time. Two and four is actually a sweet spot because they're old enough to enjoy it but young enough to still nap. Bring way more snacks than you think you need, honestly.

The swingset is my happy place but honestly camping with toddlers at that age is pretty doable. Just keep expectations low on the first trip. If everyone eats and sleeps and nobody cries the whole time, that's a win.
