Fishing trip turned into a lesson about patience

Took my younger son to the lake early morning on Saturday. He's 6 so I wasn't expecting much, honestly. Thought we'd be there 45 minutes before he got bored. We sat there for 2 hours and he didn't catch anything but he didn't complain once. Just watched the water, asked me questions about the fish, ate the snacks I brought. When we left he asked if we could go back next weekend. Made me realize sometimes the whole point is just being there together, not catching anything. This parenting thing hits different sometimes.
