Tried smoking a whole brisket for the first time with my neighbor who actually knows what he's doing. Started at 6am Saturday, finished around 6pm. We took turns staying by the grill. Kids thought we were insane. But man when we sliced into it the bark was perfect and it was so tender. Made enough meat to eat on for like 4 days. My wife's already asking when I'm doing it again. Thinking maybe I found my thing. Anyone got recommendations for a good offset smoker that won't cost me a kidney?

12 hours for a brisket is legit work. That neighbor probably taught you something real too. I'd be too tired to enjoy it but mad respect for sticking with it.
