Spent Saturday helping my neighbor replace some rotted boards on his back deck. It was only supposed to take a couple hours but we ended up there most of the day. Found way more damage underneath than expected. We reinforced the support beams and replaced like half the deck. His kids and mine hung out while we worked and grilled for dinner after. Pretty good day honestly.
Those are the best kind of Saturdays honestly. Help out the neighbor, learn something, get your hands dirty. Plus kids see you being a good neighbor too.
That's the neighborhood spirit right there. Those projects always run long but you end up bonding over it, which is worth way more than the extra time.
