Hiking the local trails - what's your go-to snack?
Taking my two kids on a moderate 3 mile hike this Saturday. Looking for snack ideas that are easy to pack and won't melt. Trail mix gets old fast. Are those granola bars still a thing or am I dating myself? Also how often should we stop for breaks? Don't want the kids to bonk out halfway.
We just did a 3 mile hike last weekend and I learned the hard way that fruit pouches and granola bars were clutch. The pouches don't weigh much and kids love them. Also bring way more water than you think you need.
