Hiking trip totally backfired
Thought I'd surprise the fam with a nice 3 mile hike. 20 minutes in my 7yo is complaining her feet hurt and my 9yo is asking if we're there yet. Ended up carrying the youngest half the way and we still had to turn back. Anyone have tips for making hikes fun for kids or should I just accept were a car trip family?
We attempted something similar and learned real fast that kids need snacks and a destination that isn't just 'walking.' Maybe pick a route with interesting stuff along the way?
The complaint at 20 minutes is actually just her telling you she's done. Nothing wrong with turning back early. My lake trips taught me that forcing the fun thing never works.
