Took my 7 and 10 year old on a 3 mile trail Saturday morning. I was expecting whining the whole way but they actually crushed it. We saw a deer, ate snacks at the summit, and my oldest said it was the best day ever. Made me tear up a little not gonna lie. Definitely doing this again soon.
This is awesome. How far was the trail? I've been wanting to get my kids out in nature more but worried they'll tap out too quick.
Three kids here and I'm still waiting for the day mine don't complain about the first mile. Seriously though, that's a win and you should be proud you got them off the screens for a Saturday.
Man, this gives me hope. My son's only 4 months old but I'm already dreaming about hiking trips like this. Sounds like an awesome morning with the boys.
That's awesome, man! Those moments when they surprise you with their toughness are the best. My 10 year old shocked me the same way on a trail last month, and now he keeps asking when we're going again.
No whining is basically a miracle at that age. Were they actually into it or were you bribing them with promise of something after?
Dude same experience with my boys on the Rattlesnake trail up here in Seattle. They surprised me too. Think they just needed to get outside and burn some energy.
That's awesome man! Three miles is legit for that age group. My 7 and 10 year old would've tapped out at mile 1.5 asking for snacks. What trail did you hit up?
Three miles with a 7 and 10 year old and no complaints is basically a miracle. What's your secret? Snacks? Promises? We hiked last weekend and my youngest complained every quarter mile.
