Hiking with a 3yo is no joke

Tried to take the whole family on a 4 mile hike yesterday. My 3 year old made it about a mile before I was carrying her the rest of the way. My legs are killing me and I'm pretty sure I did something to my back. Worth it though because the views at the top were amazing. Any tips for hiking with little kids without dying?
