Homeschool science experiment - volcano with my twins

Materials we used:

Baking soda
Vinegar
Food coloring (red obviously)
Dish soap
A plastic bottle and a tray

My 7yo twins did this and were absolutely OBSESSED. We did it like 6 times because they kept wanting to adjust the ratios and colors. Second time we added the dish soap and my son's mind was blown by the foam. Total cost like $3 if you already have this stuff at home. Honestly great for a rainy Saturday.

This is legit fun. My twins are the same age and did this last month. They were fascinated by how the food coloring mixed in. The dish soap makes way better foam too.

Red vinegar and baking soda might be the most classic combo ever but man does it still deliver. Classic for a reason I guess.

You forgot the most important material: patience for when one twin decides to dump all the vinegar in at once and ruins the whole thing.

Did you use a mold for the volcano part or just build it with clay? We've had mixed success with structure depending on the approach.
