Our attempt at cooking together was a disaster lol

Thought it would be cute to make pizza from scratch with the kids (8, 5, 3) on Saturday. What actually happened:

Flour EVERYWHERE
Middle child decided to taste the raw yeast
Youngest knocked over the olive oil
Somehow sauce ended up in the dog's water bowl
Oven door got left open like three times
ONE of them actually turned out edible

I'm not sure I'm cut out for this "quality time" thing but I guess they had fun? Wife is still finding flour in weird places.

Raw yeast story sent me. That's a "at least they're confident" moment. And honestly the flour everywhere and oil mess is just the price of cooking with kids under 8. Worth it for the memory though.

This is peak parenting. The chaos is part of the charm honestly. The fact that you tried and let it happen is actually what matters - they remember that you did pizza with them way more than they remember the cleanup. The yeast tasting story is going to be funny in like 5 years. (Right now it's gross but future-funny.)

This is why I don't do cooking projects with three kids. You did better than I would - I probably would've ordered pizza halfway through. At least the kids got the experience even if it was chaotic.

The oven door left open - yep. This is just how it goes with a 3yo. They're not malicious, they just have zero spatial awareness. Did the pizza still cook okay?

This is why some parents just do the cooking and let kids "help" by eating the result. But the fact that you actually DID it with them is cool even though it sounds exhausting.
