Planning a camping trip for next month

Looking for recommendations on a good campground in the midwest that's kid friendly. Want to do a long weekend, maybe 3 days. Never done the camping thing with my family before so I'm trying to not overthink it. We have a decent tent and I can figure out the cooking part. Should I book early or is that overkill for just a family trip?

We did a camping trip in Missouri last summer and it was perfect for the kids. Elephant Rocks State Park has great sites and the hiking is manageable for little ones. Highly recommend.

What's your kid's age range? That'll help narrow down recommendations. We've found that anything with a lake or stream keeps kids entertained for hours.

Camping is where it's at for family time. No screens, no distractions. Just make sure you bring way more snacks than you think you'll need.
