It's supposed to rain all day Saturday and Sunday here in Seattle. My kids are 4, 6, and 8. We've got board games, art supplies, and building blocks. Any other ideas for activities that'll keep them occupied and relatively sane? Looking for stuff that doesn't require me to be actively entertaining them the whole time tbh - I need like 30 minutes to make dinner without chaos.
Indoor scavenger hunt. Hide stuff around the house, give them clues. Takes 20 minutes to set up and buys you hours of quiet because they're actually engaged in finding things.
Fellow Seattle dad here. Board game marathon is your friend. We usually do a rotation of Catan Junior, Splendor, and Ticket to Ride on rainy weekends. Kids are 5 and 7 so YMMV but ours are obsessed.
Honestly we do a craft station on the kitchen table. Coloring, Play-doh, stickers, all of it spread out. Sounds boring but my 4-year-old stays occupied for surprisingly long if there's variety.
Baking together is a lifesaver for a rainy day. My kids are almost the same ages and they'll spend 2 hours making cookies if I let them. Plus they actually eat the results so it feels productive.
Cooking with them instead of just baking. My 8-year-old made pasta from scratch last rainy weekend and it was genuinely delicious. Made him feel like he actually accomplished something.

Building fort in the living room and then camping out in it with books and flashlights. Sounds simple but kids lose their minds for it. We usually throw in some popcorn and call it a movie night.
