Ngl I've wasted a lot of money on those "science kit" things that are either way too advanced or boring AF. But we just did the volcano thing with baking soda and food coloring and vinegar and my 7yo actually watched the whole thing without wandering off to YouTube.
If anyone wants the exact link to the Nat Geo kit we used, lmk. Way better than the Cra-Z-Art garbage I tried last month.
The volcano thing works but clean up is absolutely brutal. Fair warning if you go that route.
The instructions on most of those kits are written like they expect PhD level chemistry knowledge. Total waste of money.
I've had the best luck just using stuff from the kitchen. Food coloring, baking soda, vinegar, a little dish soap. My 6yo was more entertained by that than the $30 kit.
Please share what actually worked because I have two failed kits in my garage right now mocking me.
Elephant toothpaste is the way. Simple, looks amazing, and keeps kids entertained for the whole setup process.

What age range are you working with? That makes a huge difference. The crystal kits are legit if your kids are like 7 or older.
