Seasonal garden project update - they actually grew vegetables!

Okay so remember back in March when I started that spring garden with my kids? Planted tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, the whole thing. Today we harvested our first real tomato and I'm not even exaggerating when I say my 6yo cried happy tears. She made a salad with it, wanted to eat just the tomato even though it was weird. My 9yo's zucchini plant has taken over like an alien life form but he's weirdly proud of it.

Not to sound like a Pinterest mom (I'm def not), but this has been the best learning experience. They care about something they grew themselves. Worth every mosquito bite I got helping them water.

This is such a cool project to do with the kids. They'll remember doing this way more than if you just brought home store bought veggies.

The look on my kids' faces when they picked their first homegrown veggie was priceless. Totally agree that this beats anything you could do otherwise.

Wait I remember that post! So the tomatoes and zucchini actually made it? That's awesome man. Most people kill their first garden pretty quick.

Getting kids interested in where food comes from is honestly a game changer. They're way more likely to eat vegetables they grew themselves.
