Seasonal pumpkin patch run this year?

Who's doing the pumpkin patch thing this year? We usually hit it up in October but honestly the crowds and the prices are getting out of hand. $50 to "pick" a pumpkin that's already been picked and dug up, $15 for a basic caramel apple. Feels like a trap.

Maybe we just find an actual farm and pay once for the experience? Or skip it entirely? Curious what other people think about the whole pumpkin patch economy lol

Yeah the pumpkin patch industrial complex is wild now. We just hit up a local farm stand this year and grabbed one from their pile for like $12. No "experience" but honestly the kids didn't care, they just wanted to carve it.

True, but honestly I don't mind paying if my kids are having fun. For us it's more about the memory than the pumpkin itself. That said $50 is definitely too much lol

Yeah the whole 'pick your own' thing is such a scam now. We did a u-cut farm last year and still paid $45 for like 3 pumpkins. This year just hitting up the grocery store parking lot where they sell them for $8-12 each lol

We skipped the patch entirely last year and just let the kids decorate small pumpkins from our garden. They were honestly more excited about that than waiting in line for an hour at the pumpkin place

Have you tried going on a weekday instead? We went on a Tuesday morning last October and it was literally empty. Plus prices were actually reasonable and the kids could actually run around without getting trampled

This guy gets it. The Instagram-worthy pumpkin patch is a myth these days. Just go to a regular farm stand or honestly a farmers market. You'll find actual variety and support local farmers without the BS markup

Have you tried going on like a random Tuesday afternoon instead of weekends? Way fewer people, same pumpkins, probably better prices if they're trying to move inventory

We did our own pumpkin patch hunt in a field near us last year - knew the farmer, way cheaper, and the kids actually got the experience of searching for them instead of just picking from a curated pile
