14 hours on the smoker, woke up at 4am to start it. Bought a cheap meat thermometer online and watched like a hundred YouTube videos. The bark was perfect, the meat was tender, my whole neighborhood smelled like heaven. Family thought I was a genius. Cost like $40 for the brisket and I fed 10 people. Definitely doing this again next month. Never thought I'd be the guy smoking meat but here we are.

14 hours is dedication. That 4am wake up for a brisket though, that's peak dad energy right there. Did your family actually appreciate the effort or did the kids just want hot dogs?
How was the meat thermometer game changer for you? I've been smoking stuff for years but always just go by feel. Might have to try being more scientific about it.
