Been saying I'd do this for years and finally picking up a brisket at costco tomorrow. Got a charcoal smoker and some oak wood. Any tips? How long are we talking and what temp should I be aiming for? My dad smoked meat all the time but never taught me so I'm basically going in blind with some podcast knowledge.

Nice dude, first brisket is a milestone. I'd say low and slow is the way to go - aim for around 225-250 degrees and plan on about 1.5 hours per pound. Wrap it in foil when the bark looks good and you're golden.
