Smoking a brisket for the first time tomorrow

Been watching YouTube videos all week and I think I got this. Picked up an 8 pound brisket from Costco and rented a smoker from a local place since I don't want to drop 500 bucks yet. Wife thinks I'm crazy for starting this at 5 AM but apparently that's how long it takes. Wish me luck guys, fingers crossed this doesn't taste like rubber.

That's awesome man, renting first is the smart move. My only dad joke for you: why did the brisket go to therapy? Because it had too many layers to work through.

Nice setup for a road trip down the BBQ circuit if it turns out great. Nothing says family adventure like following the smoke trail across the country.

8 pounds is a solid first brisket, you got this. Just remember low and slow, and resist the urge to peek at it every 10 minutes. Your YouTube homework is gonna pay off big time.
