Started Teaching My Son Woodworking
We're building a bookshelf together. He's 9 and actually decent at measuring and paying attention to details. Way more careful than I am actually. Last weekend we cut all the pieces, this weekend we're assembling. My workshop has never been so clean because he's making fun of how messy I usually keep it. This is probably the coolest thing I've done as a dad so far. He keeps telling people at school he's 'building furniture' like he's a professional. Dude it's a bookshelf but I'm not gonna stop him from feeling proud.
This is awesome. My garage is basically my sanctuary and having my kid in there learning something real is the best part of my week. The measuring thing is huge - that's where kids actually learn they need to be precise about stuff. How's he doing with the cuts?
