Ngl I was dreading this project but it actually went way smoother than expected. Grabbed a cedar raised bed kit from Home Depot ($60), and the boys helped with drilling and screwing everything together. They've already planted tomatoes, zucchini, and cucumbers. Every morning now they check on it before school. Totally worth it for how excited they are about growing actual food.
We built ours from scratch last year and it took 4x longer but the boys still talk about 'their' garden bed. Honestly the slow way hits different for them. But totally get why the kit is the vibe
did the kids actually help with the screwing part or were they just handing you tools? asking because mine always want to help but then I end up redoing everything
60 bucks for that quality kit is lowkey a steal. did you line the bottom or just go straight into the dirt?
What are you gonna grow in it? My kids will only eat vegetables they grew themselves so I'm trying to figure out what actually works

Love this. We did something similar but went full hardscape and honestly the kids got bored pretty quick. The fact that yours stayed engaged the whole time is the real win here.

This is awesome. The Home Depot kits are perfect for this because they're not so intimidating that kids feel like they can't help. Drilling is such a satisfying step for kids that age too.
