My oldest is finally 5 and we're thinking about a camping trip to that state park nearby. Only one night though because I'm not confident enough for more yet. We've got a tent and sleeping bags. Any tips for keeping them entertained and actually getting them to sleep in the woods? Also how do you handle bathroom situations with little ones? This is a big step for us.
Honestly the kids will probably love it way more than you expect. They think sleeping in a tent is basically the coolest thing ever. Just make sure you bring a good headlamp and some patience.

State park is smart for your first time. Not too remote in case you need to bail out. Trust me though, once you see your kid's face when they roast their first marshmallow you'll forget you were ever scared.
