Looking to get a bigger tent since our old dome tent is getting cramped with two kids now. Was thinking a cabin-style tent that's at least 8 person. We do family camping like 4-5 times a year and I want something that'll last. Don't want to spend over $400 if possible. Has anyone used one of those Coleman Cabin tents? Or should I save up for a better quality one?
A bigger tent makes camping so much better because you're not all rubbing elbows at 2am. Look for something with a vestibule area where you can throw gear so it's not in your sleep space.
How long are you planning to be out there? If it's just weekends, a good 4-person tent usually works fine for a family of 4. Takes the camping experience from miserable to actually fun.
We just upgraded our tent last summer. Bell tents are nice but they're pricey. If you want something that fits two kids comfortably, look at the Coleman Carlsbad or a Coleman Fastpitch. Both are solid.

Next month is perfect timing. I'd say go with at least 6 person capacity so everyone has room to move. Doesn't sound like much but it changes everything when the kids can actually stretch out.
