Teaching My Son to Fish

Took my 7 year old to the creek behind our neighborhood for the first time yesterday morning. Packed sandwiches, brought a couple cheap rods, and just went. Didn't catch anything but he caught a frog and was entertained for like an hour. We're definitely going again next Saturday. Looking forward to building this into a regular thing with him. My dad took me fishing and some of my best memories are from that. Want to give him the same.

Taking them out to the creek is where it's at. Nothing fancy needed just time together. My kids are still young but I've been looking forward to stuff like this. How long did you stay out there?

This is exactly the kind of thing I want to do with my kids but I never know where to start. What did you bring for snacks? Did he actually catch anything or was it more about the experience together?

The creek behind the neighborhood is perfect. We do similar stuff and honestly those memories are the ones they'll actually remember. Did your son get into it or was it more of a one time thing?
