Tent camping with a 2 year old, tips?

We're planning our first real camping trip next month, just a few nights at a local state park. My 2yo is unpredictable so I'm nervous about sleeping arrangements and keeping him entertained. We have a good tent but I'm wondering if anyone has done this successfully. Do you bring a pack n play? How do you keep them from wandering off? Any advice would help, I really want to do this before he gets too old to think it's cool.

We did our first trip with our 2yo at a state park too and honestly it was easier than staying home once we got there. Bring a good sleeping pad and dress them in layers so you can adjust if they get uncomfortable. Coffee will be your friend.

Pro tip from the Outer Banks: bring way more snacks than you think you need. The unpredictability is part of the adventure, honestly. My daughter was a terror at that age but she still talks about our first camping trip.
