The garage project that turned into a whole thing

Started reorganizing the garage last Saturday morning. Simple job right? Wrong. Ended up finding 15 years of stuff that needed to be thrown away or donated. Built new shelving. Found my old tools that I forgot I had. By Sunday night the garage was completely transformed and my kids helped the whole time. Now my 7 year old knows how to use a level and can help me with actual projects. That's worth more than having a clean garage.

This is always how it goes. You think you're gonna spend an hour and suddenly you're deep in a Saturday long project. Those 15 years of stuff are hiding something aren't they?

I know that feeling too well. Started organizing my garage once and next thing I knew it was 8pm and I'd only moved stuff around. The real work is the sorting and deciding what actually stays.

That's when you know a project has gone sideways, when you find stuff you forgot you even had. At least you made some progress though, even if it took longer than expected.

Haha yeah, a quick garage cleanup always turns into an archaeological dig. But hey, at least you got 15 years of clutter out of there. That's a win in my book.

I did the same thing last month. Swore it would be quick. Ended up being the whole weekend and honestly don't regret it because at least the garage is functional now.
