Thinking about tackling the basement staircase next weekend

The carpet is disgusting and honestly I'm tired of looking at it. Been watching YouTube videos on how to install vinyl plank flooring. Has anyone here done this before? My main concern is messing up and having to rip it all out. Also not sure if I need to remove the old carpet first or can I just put the underlayment right over it. Any tips would help. My wife said if it looks good she wants me to do the hallway too so no pressure lol.

Vinyl plank is the way to go, way easier than it looks. I'd say watch a few more videos and take your time with the layout - that's where most people mess up. You got this!

Nice man, that's a solid weekend project. Just make sure you get the subfloor prepped right or you'll regret it later. The satisfaction of finishing something like that is totally worth it though.
