Three day camping trip with the boys planned for next month

Taking my two kids camping at a state park about 2 hours away. They're 6 and 9, so this will be our first real overnight camping adventure. Planning to do some fishing, hiking, maybe a campfire cooking situation. Bought a new tent that fits all of us plus gear. Any tips for keeping kids entertained at night without screens? Also what are your goto camping meals that don't require a ton of prep?

Two hours is perfect distance. Not too far but feels like a real adventure. What's your camping setup like? We're thinking about doing something similar with ours in the fall.

Logistics question - are you doing tent camping or RV? I ask because with my schedule it's hard to plan stuff like this and I'm always trying to figure out the easiest way to make it happen.

Nice! The 6 and 9 age combo is ideal for camping. 6 year old still thinks sleeping outside is magical and 9 year old can actually help set up camp. Have fun out there!

This is going to be amazing. Just make sure you pack way more snacks than you think you'll need. That's lesson number one I've learned.

Two hours is perfect distance. Close enough you're not spending the whole trip driving. Did you plan what activities you're doing or just letting them explore?
