Took the family camping and it rained the entire time

We went to try out this new campground about 2 hours out and the weather forecast was totally wrong. Rained from Friday night straight through Sunday morning. The tent held up great at least. My wife was mad we couldn't do the hiking we planned, but honestly the kids thought it was an adventure. We played board games in the tent and made s'mores under the awning. Sometimes the best trips don't go as planned.

Man that sucks but those are actually the best stories later. My family still talks about the camping trip where we got soaked and had to use the camp office to dry everything. The weather being bad forced us to bond harder. Check back next year when the forecast looks perfect.

Weather forecasts are never right when it matters. At least you tried something new though. The kids probably remember it more than if everything went perfect anyway.

Rain camping with kids can actually be fun if you lean into it. Did the kids think it was an adventure or were they miserable? Either way you're building memories even if it wasn't what you planned.

Oh man, the camping trip from hell. We did something similar last year and I swear I've never seen my kids so bored and cranky at the same time. Did you at least stay in a tent or did you bail to a hotel?

That's rough. We had a camping trip like that last summer. Ended up playing card games in the tent most of the time and honestly the kids had a blast. Sometimes the best memories come from the worst weather.

This is exactly why I don't trust weather forecasts for outdoor stuff anymore. We just assume it'll be wet and pack accordingly. Silver lining though - those terrible camping stories become the best family memories later.
