Took the kids camping and forgot the tent poles

Yup. Drove an hour to the campsite realized we didn't have the poles. Ended up hanging a tarp between two trees and making a lean to shelter. Actually worked great and the kids thought it was way cooler than a regular tent. They're still talking about our "survival adventure". Sometimes screwing up leads to better memories I guess.

Four nights a week at practice means I know all about improvising, but I've never had to improvise a shelter. That's dad level unlocked right there.

That's actually genius problem solving right there. The tarp lean-to is now peak camping memory for those kids, way better than the perfect setup would've been.
