Took the kids camping at Lost Lake and we saw like 6 deer

Got back yesterday from 3 days at Lost Lake campground with my two boys. They are 8 and 5. Set up camp Friday afternoon and spent the whole time hiking, swimming in the lake, and just hanging out. Caught a few trout too which the boys were obsessed with. One rainy night but we stayed dry in the tent. Best part was no phones and no screens the entire time. They already want to go back next month.

Three days with an 8 and 5 year old is no joke. How did you keep them entertained at night? We're planning a similar trip and I'm nervous about bedtime in a tent.

The deer sightings are what makes those trips stick in their minds. We've done Lost Lake twice now and honestly a zoo membership might be the only better investment I've made for weekend time with my kids.

This sounds perfect. Nothing beats getting them away from screens and into nature like that. Did the 5 year old sleep okay in the tent or was that a battle?

Lost Lake is incredible. Seeing wildlife like that is what you take these trips for. Did the kids have their phones out or were they actually present for the deer? That's the real win.
