Took the kids on their first real camping trip

We went to a state park about an hour away and stayed in a cabin because I'm not crazy enough to tent it with a 5 and 8 year old yet. Hiked about 2 miles on Saturday which felt like 10 miles with all the complaining but they actually had fun. Made s'mores, told ghost stories, the whole thing. My son wanted to sleep in the car at like 9pm because he was so tired. Planning to go back next month and maybe actually do a tent this time. They keep asking when we can go again so I'd say it was a win.

Did you do any hiking or activities around the park or mostly just hang out and relax? Trying to figure out what our first trip should look like with a 2 year old.

Dude, cabin camping is where it's at with younger kids. You're doing it right and honestly the 2 mile hike is solid for a 5 and 8 year old. Bet they slept like rocks that night.

That cabin move is smart honestly. My kids would have driven me nuts in a tent, and the hiking sounds perfect for that age. Did they sleep pretty well after being outside all day?
