Looking for something moderate that won't completely destroy my 5yo's legs. We did Multnomah Falls last month and she surprised us, but I don't want to overdo it. Need to actually finish the hike without carrying a 40lb toddler the last mile lol. Something with water or views to keep her engaged? We're thinking this weekend if weather holds.
Salmon River loop near Government Camp might be too ambitious for 5yo legs but Timberline Lake is shorter and doable. Wildflowers are still going.
If you want something super easy the walk to Punchbowl Falls is only like 1.5 miles and kids love the waterfall payoff at the end. Less elevation too.
Wahkeena Falls is perfect for that age. Way less crowded than Multnomah and the creek is fun to explore after. Our 5yo crushed it.
We did Ramona Falls last summer with our 6yo and she loved it. Trail is well maintained and the falls are insane. Might be worth the drive east.

Bring a backpack with snacks and water. Those snacks are worth their weight in gold on mile 1 when they hit the wall. Trust me on this one.
