Two-year-old keeps destroying DIY projects, how do you keep kids away from your work?

I'm trying to renovate a corner of the garage into a little workshop situation but my toddler keeps getting into everything. She's destroyed paint, tried to eat screws, knocked over a shelf. I can't get anything done with her around. Do you just work when they're asleep? Nap times only give me like 45 mins. Frustrated lol
