Why does every hiking trail recommendation assume your kids actually like hiking?
Took my 6yo to what everyone on here raved about—"perfect for families, only 2 miles!" Spoiler alert: he complained the entire time about his legs hurting at mile 0.5. Then he found a stick and wanted to carry it the whole way. And of course it rained on the way back. We were soaking wet and miserable. I get that some kids are naturally outdoorsy but not all of us have those kids. Would love recommendations that acknowledge kids might not actually want to be outside for more than 20 minutes.
Right? Every hike post acts like all kids are little mountain goats. My 6yo made it about halfway then demanded to be carried. That 2 mile walk felt like 10.
We tried that same trail last month and my response would be family friendly if you don't mind your family being miserable for an afternoon. Honestly a walk around the neighborhood was a better time.
