Why does my 10yo suddenly hate every activity he used to love?

This isn't really a mission post but I'm genuinely confused. Last year he'd beg to go hiking, do science experiments, build stuff. Now everything is boring or "for little kids." I get that tween phase or whatever but I feel like we're losing our thing to do together. Is this just the age? Do I just accept it or are there activities that appeal to kids going through this phase? He's not interested in sports or most social stuff, mostly just wants to be on his phone.

Welcome to the tween phase lol. He's becoming aware of what's "cool" and stuff he used to love suddenly isn't anymore. Frustrating as hell but pretty normal at that age.

My advice: let him help choose the activities instead of you deciding. Might be he's bored with YOUR ideas of fun, not actually bored with the activities themselves. Let him lead sometimes.

The science experiments might come back if you frame them differently—like something cool he discovered, not something dad's making him do. At this age autonomy matters way more than it used to.

Don't push the old activities but DO keep inviting him. Sometimes they need space before they circle back around. Took my 10yo like 8 months before he wanted to hike again.

This is the identity shift phase where he's trying to figure out who he is separate from "little kid stuff." Could be peer pressure too if he's getting comments from other kids about activities being babyish.
