Why is cooking with kids so much harder than cooking alone??

Decided to make homemade pizza with my 7yo yesterday. Every step took twice as long. He spilled flour everywhere. The dough got stretched weirdly. We both ate it anyway and he was so proud lol. But I'm sitting here thinking—is this actually a bonding moment or am I just making my life harder? Do I keep doing this every weekend or just accept that my kid's gonna eat cereal for dinner most nights?
